Dwell time

How long a visitor stays on your page after clicking a Google result before going back to search.

Definition

Dwell time is the gap between someone clicking your link in Google and pressing the back button. If they bounce in 4 seconds, Google reads that as your page didn't deliver. If they stay 90 seconds, scroll, and don't return to search, Google reads that as satisfied visitor. You improve dwell time with a clear headline that matches the search intent, fast loading, useful content above the fold, and an answer to the question in the first paragraph. Strong dwell time over months pushes rankings up. See /pricing.php for content help.

Why it matters in Miami

Miami visitors often arrive on a phone with poor reception in a parking garage or condo — pages that load slowly get abandoned fast and tank your dwell time. Mobile speed and a clear bilingual headline are the difference between staying and bouncing.

Example

A Coral Way immigration attorney rewrote her landing page lead to answer 'Can I apply for asylum in Florida?' in the first sentence. Average dwell time went from 18 seconds to 2 minutes 40 seconds.
