Black-hat SEO

Manipulative tactics that break Google's rules to rank fast — and usually get the site penalized.

Definition

Black-hat SEO covers everything Google forbids: buying thousands of cheap backlinks, stuffing pages with invisible keywords, cloning competitor content, fake reviews, doorway pages, automated comment spam. It can spike rankings for a few weeks, then Google catches up and your site drops to page 8 or gets removed entirely. Recovering from a manual penalty often takes 6-18 months — longer than just doing it right the first time. If an agency won't show you exactly what they're doing, assume it's black-hat. Why it matters in Miami

Miami small businesses are heavily targeted by overseas SEO firms selling 'guaranteed page 1' for $99/month — that's black-hat at scale. We've cleaned up dozens of Miami sites that bought it and lost their entire Google presence.

Example

A Sweetwater restaurant hired a $79/month service that bought 8,000 spammy backlinks. They ranked #1 for two months, then Google issued a manual action and the restaurant disappeared from results for a full year.
